about

Taking inspiration from the American minimalists, this collection of instrumental compositions was conceived as a way to sidestep the constraints of the more formal structure that my other recordings have tended to follow. I wanted to move towards a way of composing that allowed me to just drift, with no thought of a given structure in mind. Rhythm, Repetition and the Melodic in Nature is a kind of meditation, the compositions evolving in a more intuitive and natural way. Listening back to the album when it was completed, I was struck by the way it had found its own ecosystem. Time seemed to have slowed down, allowing the recordings to float in their own almost timeless space, affording the listener the possibility to quietly reflect or dream.
